The Conference on “Sustanable Development of Tourism: today and tomorrow” took place in the framework of the Russian-German Cross-Year of the Economy and Sustainable Development 2020-2022.
The event was organized by the German Embassy in Moscow and Hanns Seidel Foundation in cooperation with the Russian Representative Office of the Germany National Tourism Office, and was held at the Creative Hospitality Centre of the International Institute for Informatics, Management, Economics and Law in Moscow on 21 September 2021.
The conference was aimed at sharing best practices in the sustainable development of tourism industry, including an exchange of experiences and opinions on the development of ecotourism in the protected nature areas.
The Restoring Peatlands in Russia Project pays great attention to communication, education and awareness activities, and we were glad to have the opportunity to share our experience in this area. Since 2011, the project has been supporting the establishment of demonstration plots at peatland restoration sites, museum expositions, visitor centres and eco-trails in the national parks, nature reserves and other areas, which can serve as tourist attractions.
